Behind the Aftermovie
Some events feel big before you even walk through the doors. Dizstruxshon – Masters of Imagination had that feeling from the minute the day started. With a pre-party leading into a full event running right through until 3AM, there was already a buzz building early — and somehow it never dropped off.
What stood out most about this one wasn’t just the production or the lineup — it was how full the place stayed all night. Usually events have waves where people come and go, moments where the room settles before picking back up. This wasn’t one of those nights. From the pre-party atmosphere right through to the final tracks, there was always movement, energy and people fully locked into it.
For me, this event was another chance to do what RTV is built around — capturing moments properly and turning them into something people can come back to after the night is over. I had the opportunity to film the event and then bring everything together through the aftermovie edit. That’s always one of my favourite parts of the process because filming is only half of it — the real challenge is taking hours of footage and rebuilding the feeling of the night into a few minutes that actually feel like being there.
The theme of Masters of Imagination came through in more than just the artwork. There was a proper escapism to the whole thing — lights, atmosphere, packed dancefloors and that feeling where hours disappear without anyone noticing. Every time I moved to a different angle or section of the venue there was something happening worth capturing. Crowd reactions, moments between sets, people completely lost in the music — those are the shots that end up making the final cut.
The pre-party set the pace early and instead of peaking too soon, the energy somehow kept climbing throughout the night. By the time the later hours rolled around, nobody looked ready to leave. It had that proper warehouse rave feeling where time stops existing for a while and everyone’s there for the same reason.
Massive thank you to everyone involved for trusting me to capture it. Being able to film and edit an aftermovie for events like this is exactly why RTV exists.
